💚💛 Learning Through Experience at Our Deaf Awareness Celebration! 💛💚
As part of our Deaf Awareness Celebration last Friday, we were excited to welcome the Wilson Regional Center to ENCSD for a morning of hands-on learning and interactive activities!
Students, parents, families, guests, and staff—including our Pre-K, Elementary, Middle School and High School students—had the opportunity to participate in activities designed to help participants better understand the experiences of individuals with hearing and visual impairments.
Participants used goggles and blindfolds to experience limited vision and earplugs to experience limited hearing. They then took part in activities such as coloring, solving puzzles, and experiencing deaf/blind isolation. These activities encouraged everyone to think about how communication, accessibility, and everyday tasks can be affected by sensory barriers.
It was an informative, engaging, and fun experience for our entire school community! We are grateful to the Wilson Regional Center for joining us, sharing their expertise, and providing these meaningful activities for our students, families, and staff.
Thank you for helping make our Deaf Awareness Celebration so memorable! 💚💛
