One of the important components of ENCSD is the Residential Life program. Because ENCSD serves students from the 54 eastern most counties of our state, the residential program allows students to stay on campus from Sunday afternoon, when the buses arrive, to Friday afternoon, when everyone goes home for the weekend. The residential staff serves to provide opportunity for students to take part in the ENCSD Sports Program (football, basketball, volleyball and track), intramurals, and field trips; as well as acquiring daily living skills. For students in our K-10th grades, we have dorm rooms with four beds to a room and bathrooms on the hall. On each dorm wing, we have a common room for socialization, watching TV, playing games and using the VideoPhone for contacting friends and families. Our 11th and 12th grade students have access to our newly renovated Independent Living Center, which allows students to stay in a two bedroom suite, each with its’ own kitchenette and private bathroom. A common room, similar to what is available for our K-10th grades is located on each floor. In addition, the Independent Living Center has a large teaching kitchen, which provides opportunities for students to learn how to create menus, purchase all the ingredients, then prepare a meal. In recent days, parents, visitors, community leaders and businesses have been major supporters of our residential program and helped to make it a success.
We do have day students, who ask on occasion, to be able to stay in the dorm during special events, such as field trips and prom. This can be arranged by submitting a request 24 hours in advance.
