Student Health Center
The Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf Student Health Center is in operation starting Sunday night when students arrive on campus, until Friday afternoon when the last student has departed campus. It is staffed with an all Registered Nurse staff, 24 hours each day. We have access to a Pediatrician and Child Psychiatrist 24 hours a day.
We serve all of the students on campus, including residential and day students. If a student becomes sick or injured, he/she is sent to the Student Health Center to be evaluated by the nurse. If the nurse determines the child needs to remain in our care, we have beds with privacy curtains. We have the physician available if the student needs to be seen. Students are monitored and given medications for their symptoms according to Physician Standing Orders. Sometimes it is necessary to contact parents to pick up the student.
The goal of the Student Health Center staff is to keep students healthy in order for them to have academic success.
