In the winter season, the Fighting Hornets complete in girls and boys basketball. Both teams play a twenty game independent schedule and conclude with the Mason Dixon tournament and the NCHSAA Independent Play-In Tournament. The basketball teams compete for national and state honors as well as conference honors.

The middle school competes in girls and boys basketball.
