History
The Fighting Hornets have a rich tradition of success. We have won National Championships (Girls Soccer 1986 and 1992), been National Runner-ups (11-Man Football 1992 and 2000), won Mason Dixon Championships (Girls Basketball 1982 and 1988; Boys’ Basketball 1991, 1992 and 1999; Cheerleading 1987, 1990 and 1992) and have always competed with pride and represented our school admirably.
Our 1983 girls basketball team was the first hearing-impaired team in the nation to win a state championship. Probably our proudest moment was winning the 2001 North Carolina State 1-A Sportsmanship award. We had eight straight years of being ejection-free leading up to this award.
We have had numerous Deaf All-Americans, All-Carolina conference players, and All-Mason Dixon Tournament players.
Our coaches are professional teachers who lead and mold our
players for life beyond the athletic arena. |
